This weekend was not an easy one for me, and being away from home made it even more difficult. It could not have been a better weekend for my best friend to visit, and words can't describe how much I appreciated her coming to see me. We had interesting experiences when figuring out LA's "Big Blue Bus" transportation system (and taxis) in our adventures seeking food, but the destinations were well worth the journey. We ventured into Beverly Hills where we had sundaes at Sprinkles Ice Cream. My sundae consisted of red velvet ice cream - heaven - between a vanilla cupcake, while Shannon chose vanilla ice cream with a German chocolate cupcake. I can honestly say that they are one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had. We then went to Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica where we shopped and invested in fresh lip balms from Kitson (my favorite store in Santa Monica), followed by dinner at Buddha’s Belly. Our server, Skylar, and I are now on a first name basis. I have gone to this restaurant that many times.
Shannon left earlier today, and though I am sad that I won't be able to see her as much as I did when she lived a few blocks away from me back home, I will make an effort to visit her throughout our four years in college as frequently as I can. Fortunately she will only be a few hours away at UCSB! Having her here this weekend was just what I needed to get me through these next few weeks until I am back at home for a few days. Everyone needs to have a best friend as amazing as she is. Love you, Shannon!
